Diamond Day's Softball Tournament

Nationally, Alpha Chi Omega raises money and awareness to support victims of domestic violence. Here at the Alpha Kappa chapter we support the local, nonprofit agency known as Womenspace. Womenspace is a shelter and organization in Lane County helping women and children escape and end domestic violence. Every year our chapter hosts a softball tournament with the gentlemen of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Our tournament, called Diamond Days, pairs each sorority with a fraternity on campus to raise money for Womenspace. This past year we also included a Glow dance party at Sigma Phi Epsilon to raise additional money. Our 2009 philanthropy raised over $2000 for Womenspace, in addition to the donated items!!

Also, as we continue to assist Womenspace throughout the year, we also participate in other University of Oregon's chapters' philanthropies. Whether we are practicing for dance competitions, raising money, making and selling t-shirts, or participating in other athletic tournaments, we pride ourselves in giving back to the community through our fellow Greek community's philanthropies.
